At WS New Horizons, we process over 56 tonnes of peanuts daily through our two processing plants. We provide farmers, peanut butter producers, pre-packers, confectionery and sweet traders with the following industry solutions:
CLEANING
As peanuts grow underground, sand, sticks, stones, leaves and other debris are all mixed amongst the peanuts after harvesting. At our processing plants we remove all the dirt from the products so that our customers are able to sell peanuts that can be sold in-shell or processed further for consumption.
GRADING
Peanuts are graded according to size based on what they are going to be used for. We grade and bag peanuts for our customers according to the following sizes: 30:40, 40:50, 50:60, 60:70.
BLANCHING
Many peanuts that are used for the production of peanut butter or sold by retailers have been blanched to remove the outer red skins from the peanuts. At our plant we blanch peanuts by heating them up to approximately 140 degrees Celsius for 25 minutes to crack and loosen the skins before placing them into the final stage of brushing where the last remains of the skins are removed.
ROASTING
Our processing plant is able to roast approximately 36 tonnes of peanuts daily to help our customers deliver the most flavourful peanuts to their customers. The peanuts are dry roasted at the plant before our customers add salt and spices according to their needs.
TRADING
WS New Horizons also trades peanuts by buying loads of peanuts from farmers and trade them to milling companies that specialize in producing peanut butter.
